As a native
New Yorker, I am thrilled at the numerous entertainment choices
available here in the city that never sleeps but when I first heard of
the Winter Music Conference and the Live Performances by some of the
worlds greatest musicians and DJ's at UltraFest, I had to head down and
check it out in person.
On the main stage you could find names such as Crystal Method,
Tiesto, Carl Cox, George Acosta and Paul Van Dyk which Pete NEZ
and I had the pleasure of sharing the stage with. Along with world
renowned artists, the event was visited by many major and Indie record
labels, promoters, agents, DJs, producers and of course media
companies form just about everywhere.
Those
who seek to get into the business should definitely participate in the
seminars and workshops. Industry professionals share the tricks of the
trade and offer advice to help keep you on top of the latest
developments. Since many major label executives show up for the event,
it's a good place to rub some elbows with the right people.
Saturday the 23rd, our journey started off at the beach to check
out the local bikinis, but once we got our fill, it was off to the
conference. We had the pleasure of being shown around by Miami's own
DJ Mark Vella, one of just over 200 other DJ's from around the world
that will also attend next year. What else can I say about The Ultra
Electronic Music Festival except WOW!!! This jaw dropping experience
is something you have to witness at least once in your life and this
was just the beginning.
On Sunday the 24th we hit Grooveradio Presents
Live DJ's at the Surfcomber Poolside, 1717 Collins Ave to see
Christopher Lawrence and what a show it was . We then decided to head
over to the Winteroasis:06 at the Billboardive, 1500 Ocean Dr. where
Crystal Method put on an amazing DJ set that kept my head spinning all
night long.
Monday the 25th after getting our morning tan, we headed
on over to The Danny Tenaglia's Legendary Miami Event (14 hour set) at
Club Space. We didn't stay for the full set because we did have
to get some sleep, but due to the length of the set, most were able to
catch a good portion of the show.
Tuesday the 26th, at the Essential
Mix held at the Opium Garden, Pete Tong was on the stage spinning his
groove. On Wednesday the 27th, our last day in Miami, we had the best time at the X-Mix
Production Party at Spin. Performing was Armand Van Helden, DJ Sneak,
Felix Da Housecat and Junior Sanchez. This made the whole trip worth
the sunburn.
When you pack your bags and head down to the Winter Music
Conference this year, don't forget to grab your sunglasses and demo
tape. We'll be here waiting for you with the Sun block and Margaritas.
So long for now! |
