Registration
and Reception 3/18/03
I
couldn’t wait to hear the screeching sounds of the wheels hitting the
tarmac from the jet plane I was on. When the plane finally stopped and
asked for the passengers to un-board, it was off to The Radisson
Deville Resort. Lets party!! The registration was organized, simple,
and exciting. Every year we get the same feeling of excitement and
anticipation of the jams that we are about to experience. And of
course, to add to my collection of WMC shirts, I had to buy one. I
picked up all my WMC gear and off we go...
The reception party was a blast, it was
held at The Raleigh Hotel Pool, featuring DJ's Tony Humphies, David
Morales, and Ron Trent. That night we ended up at The Crobar with magic sessions and the sweet sounds of Louie Vega,
Tony Humphries, Tedd Patterson, and Dimitri from Paris. The floor was
jamming and the people were beautiful. The girls were dressed scantily
and danced erotically while the guys were buffed and were grinding
with the girls.
The Tsunami Pool party and A & R
Workshop 3/19/03
Man oh man, wow, I don’t think I have
ever seen such beautiful skin at a pool party. The music was hot and
was performed by 110, Darkbeats, Rockwell, Gizelle, DJ. Hex Hector,
and DJ. Eric Velez. What an
experience…have you ever had visual and audio euphoria at the same
time? If there were ever a time I wanted to have more than two arms,
it would have been then. I mean… I wish I could have been holding
more than two cameras…this party was hot!
Watching the girls dance to the new
sounds of music and having a first bird’s eye view of the
performances of these great DJ’s was a great combination of
entertainment. Around lunchtime
after we ate our Mediterranean shrimp wraps we headed over to the
A&R listening workshop for a little tutorial on what’s new and
hot to the field. We were very
impressed on what they had to say. From all aspects of business to
sound, from sound to what makes the business work. We did this from
12pm to 2pm. What a way to digest your lunch.
This
is control…Major Tom can you hear me? You can get lost in space, and
that’s exactly where we were on this night, “Club Space”. This is a huge club
where my friend DJ Radimus is the resident DJ. But, unfortunately,
when Paul Oakenfold, DJ Tiesto, and Mauro Picotto come to town, its
time for Nettwerk /Perfecto /Meganite. People
from all over the Country and all over the world come to see these
magnificent DJ’s. And who wouldn’t, these guy are perfecto!!
Beth and Jen from Milwaukee, Wisconsin
came to see Paul Oakenfold and left being a DJ Tiesto fan. John from Buffalo, NY came for
DJ Tiesto. We ended the night with
a glaze of amazement written on our faces ready for the next day.
The
DJ World presents 3/20/03
The train kept a rolling all night long
as the wheels of steel spun again in the ever so popular DJ Spin-off.
Here we witnessed the top DJ’s displaying their talent and expertise
to the dance music world, all done poolside…can someone bring me a
margarita on the rocks, yeah baby! But
getting to know the new technologies in music production workshop was
something that I enjoyed and was very intrigued.
We then hit Poolside at The Raleigh
Hotel where the Bacardi Party and Syntax took over with DJ Sneak, Doc Martin, and Joeski Onionz performed. That
night It was back to the Crobar…where the fun
never ends. The Crobar had a lot to offer in music, dancing, and
girls…I mean fun. But, when you
go…make sure you take two aspirins before and after the club, it’s
a party zone if you know what I mean.
The Exhibit Hall 3/21/03
The
marketplace was great to see. The copyrights, co-writes, and
performing rights workshop is something that you can never miss out
on. These regulations are ever changing, and to keep on top of them in
this industry is key to success. Well,
you know sometimes all work and no play makes you want to play! So
with all this hard work it was time to hit the beach, I mean we are in
Miami. I guess I should of put on a
better sun block cause…ouch, its rest time.
The Last Wave!!! WMC Farewell Party 3/22/03
The last wave was indeed a
party to never forget, actually the whole Winter Music Conference was
an event that you will never forget!! The party started at 10am and
ended at 5am. It was poolside at The Radisson Hotel with DJ Victor
Travino NY, DJ Giuseppe NY, and DJ Mike da Mooch the local from Mucci,
Miami. The party was pumping and the people were dancing to the sounds
of melodic hypnosis. The food was great and the drinks were ice cold.
What a great combination for a successful worldwide known event.
Unfortunately, I couldn't be at two
places at once so we had to leave early and on this day and a very Important date for all music
lovers, It was ULTRA TIME!!! The Ultra Music Festival is in it's fifth
year and it's getting more amazing with every year...WOW!!! What a
Global Superstar Lineup DJ's Paul Van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold, Tiesto,
Rabbit in the Moon, Underworld, George Acosta, Bad Boy Bill, Sasha,
John Digweed, DJ Dan, Hybrid, and I can go on and on and on. Ultra is
a musical experience Incomparable to any other dance event in
the US. The level of energy and happiness is breath taken.
